In this article you will find infiormation on how to manage your rates better using the new Stop Sell functionality. We have also created a short video tutorial on Stop Sell, which you will find at the bottom of this article.
What is Stop Sell?
Stop Sell is a rate plan restriction that is commonly used by OTAs/properties. It allows properties to stop selling rooms on individual rate plans for a time of property's choosing.
E.G A property might decide to stop offering the standard rate on a private room for the upcoming weekend thus just leaving the NRR rate active for Friday & Saturday night.
How to use Stop Sell
In INBOX a property can activate stop sell for a date by using rate drop down on a room rate and checking tick box. (available via rates & availability screen)
Channel managers will allow for a similar process. A bulk update option is also available. This is used similarly to existing bulk update functionality at a room level.
Stop Sell for Standard Rates:
If an Inbox User clicks on a Stop Sell check box under a Standard Rate, Stop Sell is enabled for the date selected.
A red dot displays on the rate and that Standard rate does not display on Hostelworld for the date selected.
Stop Sell for Non Refundable Rates:
If an Inbox User clicks on a Stop Sell check box under a Non Refundable Rate, Stop Sell is enabled for the date selected.
A cross out number displays on the rate and that Non Refundable Rate does not display on Hostelworld for the date selected.
Inbox Users in Channel Manager properties have view only permission for Stop Sell and cannot click on Stop Sell check boxes
If an Inbox User in a Channel Manager property hovers over a Stop Sell check box, a tool-tip displays to inform the user that:
"Any further updates to this rate should be handled through your Channel Manager"
What is Close Standard Rate?
Close standard rate is an extension of stop sell in that it allows for to turn off standard rate for all dates instead of using date by date interaction via Stop Sell.
E.G. A property in Bayern during Octoberfest could use this feature to turn off the standard rate for the entire length of the festival
How to use Close Standard Rate
If you would like to offer the Non-Refundable rate only, you can completely diable the Standard Rate
In INBOX you can edit the standard rate via the rates and availability screen. (see pencil icon circled below)
You can then turn the rate off using the switch shown
